Quick Reception Inspiration and Schematic Sketches

Schematics may have come to a close but have they really? I think it is important to continue developing an idea until confident. The art of quickly sketching something that you see or personally develop as it comes to mind may be considered lost by some; However, I find it crucial in order to display different solutions for a problem and to visually compare various ideas.

After several directions were taken to best represent the concepts of IRON, I have committed to developing the idea of the left inspiration sketch above for the Atrium and the sketch on the right for the 10-12 (Crisis Management) Lobby Receptions.

Sketch the Ideas

Two different directions for only one goal. Interesting how that works. Day before last I had the opportunity to meet with my mentor (he is an architect for a large firm in Little Rock) and he told me that my ideas are coming together nicely, which was comforting to hear. He also said that one trait that a good designer has is the ability to let good ideas go, in order to successfully embody the brand of the space. With that being said, here are two sets of stairs that I came up with after studying various existing staircases, for the 10-12 Crisis Management's Lobby leading to the Quiet Rooms. Although the curved stairs catch your eye, I will be further developing the stairs on the right. Keep checking for new updates!
